We had a great day today visiting the exhibition "Las Edades del Hombre", a (now) annual exhibition of art and artefacts gathered from around Castile and León, and beyond, organised under the auspices of the dioceses of the region. Held in different locations each year, and reflecting a particular theological theme, this year's is in a small town in Palencia province called Aguilar de Campoo. The theme, "Mons Dei", reflects on mountains as places of encounter with God in Scripture and in culture as places which raise our eyes in wonder at the beauty of Creation. Fittingly, the first part of the exhibition (it is in two parts) is in a small church on a hillside overlooking the town. The second part is in the Collegiate church of St Michael in the town centre. An impressive collection, beautifully and thoughtfully presented, of art and images both classic and modern. ... See more

Fr Tom Kilbride, our Rector, recently celebrated Mass for a community of Carmelite Missionary sisters here in Salamanca, at which seven young sisters from India renewed their religious vows. Although there is a permanent community, most of the sisters come for only seven or eight months as part of their "juniorate" or formation, to have an experience of an international community, to learn another language and to discover something of the spirituality of the Carmelite saints of this area, especially St Teresa of Ávila and St John of the Cross, and their founder, Blessed Francisco Palau. At times they join us for Mass in English on a Sunday. The sisters are from all over the world, from India, Korea, the Philippines, East and West Africa, South America. These seven sisters renewed their simple (annual) vows for the final time. Next year, in India, they will make their final, life-long commitment. Our prayers and blessings go with them! ... See more

On our website, you can find a little item about our recent visit to Rome, where we joined the community of the Pontifical Scots College for Holy Week and the Easter Triduum. Our seminarians joined theirs firstly for a Retreat Experience, led by the two Spiritual Directors, Fr Stuart Chalmers and Fr Mark Cassidy, before both communities joined together for the Easter Triduum services and celebrations.
